Job summary

Stanley Consultants in Muscatine, IA is seeking an Electrical Student Intern to gain hands-on exposure to electrical power, lighting, control, and site infrastructure projects.

You will learn to read engineering drawings, perform basic calculations, coordinate with vendors, visit job sites, and support engineers under supervision. Eligible students pursuing a BSEE with GPA 3.0+ and legal work eligibility in the U.S. are welcome.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a BSEE degree program at an ABET-accredited university.
• Sophomore, junior or senior pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Local to the Iowa area.
• Must be able to work legally in the United States for an unlimited time without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Understand engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform and check engineering calculations under supervision.
• Coordinate information with vendors.
• Perform field site visits and back checking drawings.
• Gain familiarity with computer software and general clerk duties.
• Support specific design tasks such as electrical system modeling and power/lighting calculations under supervision.

Stanley Consultants is looking for an Electrical Student Intern for our Muscatine, IA office.

Student will develop an understanding of electrical power, lighting, control, and communications systems related to for a variety of building and site infrastructure projects. Responsibilities and skills to be developed include: Understanding engineering drawings and specifications, performing and checking engineering calculations, coordinating information with vendors, performing field site visits, back checking drawings, gaining familiarity with computer software, and general clerk duties. You may be responsible for specific design tasks under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Design tasks may include electrical system modeling, lighting and power calculations, electrical lighting and power plans, panelboard and equipment schedules, equipment wiring drawings and schematics, or similar. You will be responsible for working independently on assigned tasks and seeking out experienced engineers for answering questions.

Required Qualifications

• Enrolled in BSEE Degree Program at an ABET accredited University
• Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior working towards a BS in Electrical Engineering
• GPA 3.0 or higher
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Local to the Iowa area
