Responsibilities

• Organize, collect, process, and store data from multiple sources for analysis.
• Transform raw, unstructured data into usable formats within databases, servers, and large-scale processing systems.
• Support cloud computing environments, including deployment and maintenance of services on SLB-supported clouds.
• Collaborate with application architects to gather requirements and ensure seamless data loading across cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Assist with data governance, policies, roles, and dataflow considerations for stakeholders.
• Develop APIs and RESTful services, integrating them with data providers using JSON or XML as needed.
• Maintain and optimize existing databases using SQL and NoSQL data stores (e.g., Postgres).
• Work with virtualization, containers, and microservices to debug complex stacks and improve performance.
• Assist engineering teams to enable digital applications to run efficiently on cloud infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Gain experience with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, and Azure within Schlumberger implementations.
• Handle incidents, change requests, and problems as a first line of support.

Job description

The Student Intern is responsible for gaining exposure to career opportunities within the oil and gas technology industry. This person discovers SLB’s role in the industry and the lifestyle associated with the job. * Learn about the oil and gas industry. * Follow prescribed internship guidelines for each week as closely as possible. Note: While the opportunity for technically-trained professionals is large, these jobs are unique in their scope and responsibility and require a special kind of individual to succeed. The internship will enable the candidate and SLB determine if these requirements are met before committing to a full time job. Data and Infrastructure Engineer responsibility is in two main aspects; First, responsible for organizing, collecting, processing, and storing of data from different sources and transforming raw, unstructured data into formats that can be used for analysis including architectures such as databases, servers, and large-scale processing systems. Second, responsible for the design, planning, management, maintenance, and support, and any other technological duties associated with an organization’s cloud computing environment including support of an application on any Schlumberger supported cloud.

• Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
• Act as focal point for gathering system requirements from application architects and owners to ensure seamless transformation and loading of data across different cloud vendors such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Responsible for Data loading, data migration, and data retrieval.
• Be customer advisor on data governance, policies, roles, and dataflow.
• Responsible for assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
• Perform data mapping, data quality control for one to multiple data sources.
• Run assessment of a company data and infrastructure environment with proposed improvement and recommendations.
• Work with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues.
• Use API knowledge to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining existing company databases using experience; which includes a working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres.
• Resopsible for debugging technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers, microservices, etc.
• Collaborates with the engineering teams to enable digital applications to run on cloud infrastructure correctly, performantly and efficiently.
• Responsible for the deployment using container technologies: Docker and Kubernetes.
• Gather/Keep experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Microsoft Azure as applicable for the customer and Schlumberger implementation.
• Responsible for having a working knowledge of web services, APIs, REST and RPC.
• Handle incoming incidents change requests and problems as a first line of support.
• Responsible for operating, designing development, testing and implementing of infrastructure systems and hardware with automation in mind.
• Responsible for estimating project value/development plans, evaluating from an infrastructure point-of-view and maintain close liaison with the customer.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation on all activities.
• Participates in out-of-office on-call rotation as required.
• Responsible for installing and configuring IOT Agora solutions including Infrastructure, network setup & SDK Implementation.
• Maintains and supporting existing on-premises applications from licensing, installation, and configuration if applicable.
• Responsible for gather/developing experience working on OSDU community code and Schlumberger Enterprise Data Management (EDM) workflows.
