The University of Kansas in Lawrence is seeking a Library Student Hourly position within Watson Library's Acquisitions & Resource Sharing. You will help process mail, check-in materials, package loans, and support electronic delivery while ensuring accuracy and timely handling of materials.
This role emphasizes public service, independence, and detail-oriented work, with a minimum 10 hours weekly between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, and eligibility requirements for student employment during the term.
This position is in the Acquisitions & Resource Sharing department in Watson Library. We obtain resources/materials (books, journals, videos, PDFs, etc.) in any format (print & electronic) by purchasing, borrowing, or other means, which are needed by students, faculty, and staff to support informational and research needs. We also provide materials from KU’s collections to other libraries worldwide, as well as manage serials & electronic resources. Our student employees help open mail, locate books in the stacks, scan books and journals, and perform other office tasks.
This position requires a high level of accuracy and speed, as well as the ability to quickly learn and retain very detailed, time-sensitive, and complex procedures. The work performed must meet established quality and turnaround time standards.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
$11.00 per hour
