Job summary

Middlebury College Dining Service is seeking a student cashier/expo to provide friendly customer service, take orders, and assist in delivering meals with accuracy. The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety standards, and reliable schedule adherence.

Paid at $14.50 per hour, this on-campus student position requires active enrollment at Middlebury College and completion of SERVSAFE training within two weeks of hire. Shift flexibility includes evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student at Middlebury College.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Completion of SERVSAFE training within 14 days of hiring.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
• Physically able to lift 10–15 pounds many times during shift and up to 45 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Take food and beverage orders quickly and accurately while processing payments.
• Assist kitchen staff in organizing and packaging orders and hand off food to customers when the full order is complete.
• Ensure that all food items meet quality standards for taste, presentation, and freshness.
• Maintain dining area cleanliness and restock condiment area, wipe tables, and assist with closing tasks.
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation practices to protect customers’ health and well-being.
• Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth service and a positive team environment.
• Follow Middlebury College and Dining Service policies and guidelines.
