Job summary

Avila University seeks a Financial Aid & Enrollment Specialist to guide students through the FAFSA and aid process, ensuring timely documentation and accurate awarding. The role includes counseling on federal aid programs, loans, and scholarships, and coordinating enrollment steps with admissions and registrar.

The successful candidate will manage verification, SAP, and aid processing while maintaining compliance with federal regulations and university policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Three+ years of direct financial aid experience, including packaging, federal loans, SAP, and PJ processes.
• Two+ years administering Federal Title IV programs, FAFSA completion, eligibility, verification, and regulations.
• Experience with ERP/Higher Ed platforms and supporting admissions or student accounts preferred.
• Proficiency with federal financial aid systems (COD/NSLDS/FAFSA Partner Portal) and student information systems.
• Strong customer service and clear communication; ability to juggle multiple priorities.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice in student services.

Responsibilities

• Guide students and families through FAFSA and financial aid process.
• Assist with FAFSA completion, documentation, corrections, and resolving aid requirements.
• Review FAFSA/aid data to identify missing docs or discrepancies.
• Counsel on federal aid programs, grants, loans, scholarships, and financing options.
• Process aid applications and support awarding in line with regulations and policies.
• Support verification, loan processing, SAP, and related processes.
• Maintain accurate financial aid records and documentation.
• Utilize COD/NSLDS/FAFSA Partner Portal and other systems.
• Monitor files and follow up on outstanding requirements.
• Explain impacts of enrollment changes on aid; stay updated on regulations.
