Qualifications

  • GAAP and GASB knowledge applied to government and nonprofit accounting.
  • Basic understanding of budget development and reporting.
  • Familiar with municipal accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel/Word).

Responsibilities

  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Enter AP/AR transactions and create GL entries.
  • Assist with implementing accounting systems.

Position Summary

Albright College Institute of Nonprofit and Civic Administration (INCA) is a financial and operations consultant providing outsourced financial services for governmental entities, including municipalities and nonprofits. We provide efficient and timely public-sector financial reporting and operational deliverables for our clients, focusing on state and federal reporting, grants management, supervision of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, month-end close, cash and investment management, audit and budget preparation and reporting and application implementation.

This is a part-time temporary consulting role for junior and senior students enrolled in Albright College's Accounting and Finance Majors and will involve the provision of fractional services to nonprofits and governmental entities under the supervision of Finance Manager of Institute of Nonprofit and Civic Administration. This role may provide between 1-3 days of remote work as assigned. There may be an opportunity to work on site depending on the client's needs and systems.

Essential Job Functions
  • Bank account reconciliations
  • Assisting with implementing accounting systems
  • Entering Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions
  • Creating General Ledger entries
  • Entering budgeting forecasts provided
  • Developing financial reporting
  • Audit reconciliations
  • Ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
  • Collaborate with Finance Manager on prioritizing assignments
  • Collaborate onsite and remotely with client staff to ensure efficient business services.
Qualifications /Prerequisites
  • SPECIFC SKILLS - Knowledge / Abilities - As a current student at Albright College, the candidate will be familiar with the following, and this position will provide them with an opportunity to learn how they are applied
  • Be familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) as introduced in course work. The selected candidate will learn how to apply these reporting practices in government and nonprofit accounting.
  • Basic knowledge of budget development and reporting
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and reporting requirements related to municipal accounting and finance administration
  • Knowledge & proficiency of information systems and related applications (MS Office / Excel / Word)
  • OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to manage complex projects and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Ability to continuously create new efficiencies
  • Ability to prepare concise reports and make effective oral and written presentations
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with management staff, employees, governmental agencies, and service providers doing business with the municipality or non-profit
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to demonstrate honesty and convey integrity to maintain public trust
  • Possession of current and valid PA Driver's License
  • Employment Experience
  • Governmental accounting or auditing experience preferred
  • Education
  • Enrolled as a junior or senior in Albright College's Finance or Accounting program
Working Conditions

Work is performed remotely with the possibility of work at a client's offices. The work may involve frequent interruptions, trouble shooting, and will be in high paced environment.
