Job summary

Xavier University of Louisiana invites applications for a Financial Aid Counselor, Student Loans. This role serves as the first point of contact for the financial aid counseling staff, helping students and families navigate eligibility, processing status, and problem resolution.

The position oversees student loan processing, entrance/exit counseling, scholarship processing, and other office operations. AA/EOE. Full-time with some travel for events and recruitment activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual financial aid counseling to students and families.
• Evaluate financial aid applications (FAFSA, scholarships, loans).
• Determine eligibility and package aid per regulations.
• Oversee a student caseload and maintain records.
• Conduct verification of files and resolve data discrepancies.
• Monitor SAP status and communicate eligibility.
• Assist with loan processing and counseling.
• Present information during admissions events with travel as needed.
• Maintain accurate records in the SIS.
• Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
• Oversee specific aid programs and KPIs.
