Job summary

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor to guide students and families through financial aid processes. The role requires understanding federal/state programs, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide accurate, confidential guidance to diverse populations.

Responsibilities include advising, reviewing awards, processing documents, and maintaining knowledge of regulations.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise students and families about financial aid options via calls, letters, emails, or in person.
• Evaluate and review financial aid awards; process required documentation and respond to inquiries.
• Adjust financial aid profiles following federal/state regulations and policies.
• Keep current on federal/state regulations affecting financial aid administration.
• Interpret and revise financial aid packages from various funding sources.
• Cross-train with staff to provide backup support.
• Rotate with staff for on-demand and walk-in advising.
• Participate in College Night and outreach to promote financial aid programs.
