Job summary

JD Power Systems is seeking a Part-Time Student for Factory Automation in Waterloo, IA. As a student in this role, you'll gain hands-on experience in manufacturing technologies, including programming PLCs and assisting with automation projects while pursuing a degree in relevant fields. The position requires a commitment of 16–20 hours per week during the academic year and offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $15 to $40 based on education level and performance. US work authorization is required, and you must be able to commute daily to Waterloo.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university.
• Graduation date of December 2026 or later.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
• Work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year.
• Must be able to commute to the Waterloo, IA work location on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Learn about and apply knowledge in technologies for manufacturing execution systems and vision systems.
• Assist with programming Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs, Fanuc robots and CNC.
• Support continuous improvement in factory automation projects.

Skills

Knowledge of databases (SQL, DB2, Oracle)

Strong communication skills both written and verbal

Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Understanding network connectivity requirements for equipment

Experience programming in multiple languages Python, Visual Basic, SQL

Education

Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or Data Science
