Job summary

The University of New Mexico School of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Department, is seeking graduate and upper‑level students with an engineering background to serve as graders for Fall 2025 courses. This is a student employment position in the Mechanical Engineering Department (023A) on the Main Campus in Albuquerque, NM.

Graders will work with faculty to grade weekly assignments, projects, and quizzes, assist with grading exams, and maintain a gradebook.

Qualifications

  • Graduate or upper-level student with an engineering background.
  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures for assigning grades to mathematical/engineering problems.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Dependable.

Responsibilities

  • Grade weekly homework assignments, projects, and quizzes.
  • Assist in grading exams as directed by the instructor.
  • Maintain a gradebook for the course as directed by the instructor.
  • Hold weekly office hours as directed by the instructor.
  • Answer student questions regarding assignments.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Responsibilities
  • Graders work closely with faculty and are responsible for:
  • Gradingweekly homework assignments, projects, and quizzes.
  • Assistingin grading exams as directed by the instructor.
  • Maintaininga gradebook for the course as directed by the instructor.
  • Holdingweekly office hours as directed by the instructor.
  • Answeringstudent questions regarding assignments.
  • Otherjob-related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications

Successfullycompleted with a grade of B or better the course that the grader will begrading for.

Knowledgeand understanding of the principles, methods, and procedures for assigninggrades to mathematical and/or engineering problems.
