Job summary

The Non - Affiliated Student Technician position at Texas A&M Agrilife Research in Dallas supports the insect colony care for the Controlled Environment Agriculture Entomology program. It also helps staff and graduate students prepare for fieldwork and assists with basic sample preparation and data collection in the lab, greenhouses and high tunnel.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a community college or university
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Responsibilities

• Lead the husbandry and maintenance of colonies including whiteflies, thrips, aphids, ladybugs, and big-eyed bugs
• Assist with preparing supplies and materials for insect experiments
• Assist with data collection and experiment clean up
• Miscellaneous tasks in the lab, greenhouse or high tunnel may be assigned
