Job summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Athens is seeking a Student Engagement Support Associate to advance dual enrollment and student engagement initiatives at the Athens campus.

This full-time, in-person role requires travel to local high schools, other TCAT campuses, and SkillsUSA events, with 37.5 hours per week and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Experience processing documents where attention to detail was required.
  • Experience with basic finances including the ability to manage a balance sheet.

Responsibilities

  • Organize Student Appreciation Days, Veteran Recognition Event, SkillsUSA National Signing Day, and the National Honors Society awards banquet.
  • Support SkillsUSA activities including registering students for SkillsUSA, coordinating students for competition, traveling to SkillsUSA events, and supporting fundraising activities.
  • Manage the dual enrollment registration process including leading student group registration events, processing student applications in Banner, entering bill hours, and creating accurate financial records.
  • Maintain and disseminate the dual enrollment handbook to instructors to ensure consistency and compliance with TCAT Athens policies and procedures.
  • Foster positive and cooperative relationships with high school counselors and CTE directors through regular visits and outreach.
  • Support recruitment through high school visits, college and career fairs, Open House, and other events.
  • Conduct engaging presentations to large groups to market the college and its programs.
  • Assist in organizing summer camp opportunities to increase STEM awareness.
  • Collaborate with TBR marketing staff to create program brochures and other materials.
  • Coordinate the purchase of promotional items for recruiting and events.
  • Organize SkillsUSA Signing Day for high school students committed to TCAT Athens.
  • Support community outreach events to promote TCAT Athens to the public.
  • Maintain knowledge of institutional and federal policies (FERPA, ADA, Title VI/IX).

General Description

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Athens is hiring a full-time, non-exempt Student Engagement Support Associate at the Athens location. This dynamic role combines data entry tasks with visits to local high schools to help students apply for dual enrollment and is responsible for organizing student engagement activities. The successful candidate will work 7.5 hours per day, totaling 37.5 hours per week, and contribute to the success of student engagement, dual enrollment, recruitment, and student retention activities at the college. This is an in-person (not virtual) position that requires travel to local high schools, other campuses, and SkillsUSA events.

Job Duties
  • Organize Student Appreciation Days, Veteran Recognition Event, SkillsUSA National Signing Day, and the National Honors Society awards banquet.
  • Support SkillsUSA activities which include registering students for SkillsUSA, coordinating students for competition, traveling to SkillsUSA events, and supporting fundraising activities.
  • Manage the dual enrollment registration process which includes leading student group registration events, processing student applications in Banner, entering bill hours, and creating accurate financial records.
  • Maintain and disseminate the dual enrollment handbook to instructors to ensure consistency and compliance with TCAT Athens policies and procedures. Report violations to the Vice President.
  • Foster positive and cooperative relationships with high school counselors and CTE directors in our service area by (1) maintaining open and consistent communication channels, (2) making regular high school visits to promote our programs, and (3) hosting an annual counselor and CTE director luncheon.
  • Support recruitment efforts through high school visits, college and career fairs, Open House, and other events.
  • Conduct engaging presentations to large groups to market the college and its programs.
  • Assist in organizing summer camp opportunities to increase students’ awareness of STEM and manufacturing fields.
  • Collaborate with TBR marketing staff to create program brochures and other marketing materials.
  • Coordinate the purchase of promotional items for recruiting and other events.
  • Organize SkillsUSA Signing Day for high school students who have committed to attending TCAT – Athens.
  • Support community outreach events to promote TCAT Athens to the broader public.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of institutional and federal policies as well as COE accreditation standards as they apply to student services (e.g. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VI, Title IX).
  • Attention to detail is a MUST.
  • Prioritize projects, attending to multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting institutional and departmental deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally and tactfully with all members of the campus community. Fosters collegial relationships within and outside the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to optimize peak work periods.
Minimum Qualifications
