Job summary

Macalester College seeks a seasoned leader to elevate student employment into a high-impact educational practice. You will design, assess, and sustain a program that aligns with institutional learning goals and advances student success, working with Financial Aid, HR, Career Exploration, and academic departments.

The role is hybrid—3 days in the office, 2 days remote—with standard hours 8:00 am–4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and 1–3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in student employment, experiential learning, career development, workforce development, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training or educational programs.
• Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with technology and software used to manage programs, systems, and processes, including Handshake and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Leads transformation of student employment into a high-impact educational practice with learning outcomes aligned to the mission.
• Reviews and revises job descriptions to incorporate learning goals and NACE career competencies.
• Collaborates with Student Employment Program Manager, departments, Career Exploration, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, and HR to align employment with strategic plans.
• Ensures compliance with federal and state laws and institutional student employment regulations and policies.
• Designs and delivers training for student employees on professional skills and translates experiences to life beyond Macalester.
• Analyzes data to identify trends and prepares recommendations for operational improvements.
