Job summary

Aurora in Wisconsin seeks a Vocational Coordinator to support Cardinal Transitional Academy students learning daily living and vocational readiness in an educational setting.

You will collaborate with families and school staff, develop curriculum, supervise para-professionals, and ensure a safe, supportive classroom environment with potential for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience working with people with disabilities.
• Ability to build effective/professional relationships with families and students.
• Experience developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum
• Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment
• Excellent oral/written communication
• Background check clearance
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word

Responsibilities

• Develop curriculum/activities to meet developmental goals and instructional activities
• Prepare lesson plans and structure daily routine for students
• Direct Para-Professionals in classroom with daily/weekly tasks
• Allocate 90% of time with students teaching daily-life skills
• Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff
• Measure progress and provide progress reports on student achievement
• Create and maintain attendance, accidents, incidents, and other records
• Manage student behavior in accordance with guidelines
• Provide a safe, thriving classroom environment
• Ensure safe work practices
• Perform other duties with Vocational and Day Services when school is not in session

Our employment program requires a dedicated staff that is committed to supporting and training students in learning skills related to social, community, and vocational readiness, as well as independent living

The position exists to support the students of the Cardinal Transitional Academy in learning skills related to social, community, and vocational readiness, as well as independent living. This program will range from 6-15 students, depending on enrollment. The students that attend the educational program have cognitive disabilities, established IEP's, and have completed traditional high school programming.

When school is not in session, this position will work with other Vocational Coordinators and day services programs to assist persons with disabilities in our day centers/community to reach their independent living, recreational, and work goals.

Salary Range: $38,000 - $45,000

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe work practices
• Perform other duties as assigned with Vocational and Day Services when school is not in session
