Job summary

University of Central Missouri (UCM) seeks a inventive, artistic, and computer-savvy student to create and assemble materials for special collections displays and assist with festival prep in early March. Availability during Spring Break week Saturday through Wednesday is required.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Customer service experience required. Previous library experience preferred.
• Attention to detail, proofreading skills, and strong keyboarding.

Special Collections and the Children’s Literature Festival is looking for an inventive, artistic and computer-savvy student who will create and assemble materials for special collections displays and assist with preparation for the festival in early March. Must be available during Saturday through Wednesday of Spring Break week.

Duties Include:

• Assisting in finding books, creating signage, and putting up displays
• Assisting in Special Collections projects such as digitization and inventory
• Creating promotional material such as flyers and buttons
• Proofreading materials
• Prepping materials and spaces for the Children's Literature Festival

Education:

• High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

• Customer service experience required. Previous library experience preferred, but not required.
• Special skills required: Attention to detail is essential along with the ability to proofread (detect errors in spelling, grammar, formatting, etc.); and good keyboarding skills.
• Requires strong computer background; ability to find library materials on the shelves; to work well with others; reliability; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Physical abilities: lift up to 40 lbs. and be able to move book carts up to 50 lbs.

Working Hours and Days:

• Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and must be available during the first weekend of Spring Break and through to Wednesday
