Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Student Worker - Lab Technician in Farrell, PA for a part-time, on-site role. You will perform mechanical and chemical testing, analyze data, and maintain records while supporting the Technical Team.

This is ideal for a student pursuing a technical degree who wants hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. Hours are determined by class schedules; candidate must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university and legally eligible to work in

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a technical field is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and able to maintain documentation.

Responsibilities

• Performs mechanical and chemical testing of samples to support product quality.
• Analyzes data using basic SPC concepts to identify trends and variances.
• Maintains organized digital records and inputs data into computer systems.
• Scans and organizes order documentation and test backups.
• Supports additional lab and technical projects as assigned.

About the Role

As a Student Worker - Lab Technician at Zekelman Industries in Farrell, PA, you will play a key role in supporting our Technical Team through hands-on testing, analysis, and data management. This part-time, on-site role is ideal for a student pursuing a technical degree who enjoys problem-solving, working with data, and applying classroom knowledge in a real-world manufacturing environment.

As this is a part-time position, hours will be determined based on the student’s class schedule.

What You’ll Do

• Performs mechanical testing of pipe and tubing samples to ensure product quality.
• Conducts chemical testing of process tanks to maintain process integrity.
• Analyzes data using Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to identify trends and variances.
• Performs hardness testing and records results accurately.
• Inputs test data into computer systems and maintains organized digital records.
• Scans and organizes order documentation and test backups.
• Supports additional lab and technical projects as assigned.

Who You Are

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university, preferably in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science).
• Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and processes.
• Committed to regular, predictable onsite attendance.
• Promotes and adheres to health and safety practices in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Able to pass drug test, physical, and background check.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Abilities

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on lab work.
• Capable of lifting and handling testing materials and equipment as required.
