Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Production Operator for our Richmond, KY facility. You will set up and run high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to exact dimensions.

This full-time on-site role emphasizes strict safety, quality control, and timely reporting. You will perform calibrations, inspections, and maintenance tasks while supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write English; maintain production records/logs.
  • Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic math (add/subtract/decimals/fractions).
  • Experience with measuring devices (tape measure, micrometers, calipers).
  • Ability to operate forklift, crane and related equipment.
  • Detail oriented; able to work independently.
  • Regular, full-time onsite attendance is essential.
  • Lead and promote health and safety practices as required by policy.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently.
  • Advanced setup and calibration of all equipment.
  • Inspect materials for quality before, during, and after running material.
  • Record and report any deficiencies in quality to supervisor/quality department.
  • Maintain equipment tooling and tools necessary for job completion.
  • Diagnose equipment and quality problems while keeping scrap and delays to a minimum.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to keep work areas clean and safe.
  • Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
  • Assist maintenance in repairs and PM of equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for setting up and operating high speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications.

  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
Physical Abilities
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for several hours
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.
  • Must be able to lift 60lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for 10-12 hours
  • Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Other physical requirements as needed for job
