Job summary

Joliet Junior College is seeking a part-time Student Employee in Athletics to support daily department tasks and home game operations. The role includes setting up and taking down events, running admissions and concessions, and compiling game statistics, with reporting to the Athletics department.

The position requires enrollment in at least 6 credits at JJC, a minimum 2.0 GPA, and the ability to run, lift up to 50 lbs, and work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours in fall/spring semester.
• GPA of 2.0 or higher.
• High school graduate.
• Must be able to run, bend, lift (50 lbs) without any restrictions.
• Must have flexible hours (days, nights, and weekends).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily tasks involved in running the Athletic Department (copies, typing documents).
• Assist with set up and take down all home athletic events.
• Work admission gate and concession stand for home games.
• Do basketball stats for home games.
• Serve as volleyball line judges and ball shagging for home games.
• Assist with soccer balls during all home games on sidelines.
• Clean weight room equipment.
• Help move equipment on turf area for rentals (soccer goals, mounds).
• Cover external rentals during the week and weekends.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour (Position is FWS Eligible)

Essential Job Duties and Key Responsibilities

Schedule

This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
