This position is located at the William Harrell Building in the I45 Complex. Requires 18 years or older and a current SHSU student. Ability to read a tape measure accurately. Ability to lift or move 50 pounds without personal injury. Work 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ability to safely work alone or in groups. Ability to safely sweep, clean, and organize the laboratory. Ability to safely work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to follow instructions and complete satisfactory work results. Ability to wear personal protection equipment while in hazardous environments (e.g., safety glasses, appropriate dress and footwear, hearing protection, gloves).
Must be able to safely drive a truck, secure cargo, and pull a trailer. Must be experienced in safely operating a forklift and hand truck/pallet jack. Will be required to operate an Oxygen Fuel Cutting torch, Gas Metal Arc Welding and Shielded Metal Arc Welding machines. Will clean and brush paint wood and metal objects. Will design and construct wood and metal objects. Will organize the laboratory and toolrooms. Must have a valid driver’s license. Student will have successfully passed AGET 2303.
