Job Summary

The Student Development Specialist I, under direction, providesprofessional and supervisory assistance for the advisement,coordination and organization of student developmental programs,activities, and/or services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in the advising of a variety of studentgroups/organizations.
  • Counsels and advises students on personal and educationalmatters.
  • Acts as a referral resource for students.
  • Helps to guide students in planning and scheduling social andbudgetary procedures
  • Prepares informational and educational publications
  • Assists in maintenance of pertinent student and administrativerecords
  • Coordinates and assists in planning in-service trainingprograms
  • Issues memoranda and prepares administrative reports.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists students in exploring career interests, educationalgoals, and career readiness opportunities through individualconsultations and group programming.
  • Develops and delivers workshops, presentations, and educationalprograms on student success, leadership development, careerreadiness, and related topics.
  • Assists with the coordination and promotion of programs thatsupport student success, career exploration, and professionaldevelopment.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining collaborativerelationships with campus departments and community organizationsto support student development opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education - Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience - No experience.
Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

Ability to:

  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
License/Professional Certification

None.
