Job summary

Harboroaks is seeking an educator to teach students and promote their academic and social development through structured instruction. You will develop formal educational plans, create lesson plans and monitor progress, while supporting students individually or in groups to improve learning outcomes.

The role involves communicating with families and school staff, documenting goals, and enforcing classroom policies to maintain a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field with eligibility for state teaching certification.
• One or more years’ experience with the student population is preferred.
• Knowledge of developmental stages and behaviors for the target age group.
• Current teaching certification/license in the state is required, CPR/de-escalation training desired.

Responsibilities

• Identify students' educational needs and develop formal plans.
• Create and deliver lesson plans for subjects and teach study/communication skills.
• Observe students to evaluate abilities and provide targeted support.
• Teach and mentor individuals or groups to promote learning.
• Communicate progress with families, counselors and administrators.
• Document goals and progress per facility and state requirements.
• Supervise classroom and enforce rules and policies.
• Collaborate with treatment teams when applicable and maintain safety.
