Job summary

Harboroaks is seeking an educator to teach students basic academic, social, and formative skills, promoting physical, mental and social development. The role involves creating lesson plans, mentoring students, and communicating with families and staff to track progress.

The position requires a teaching license/certification and knowledge of developmental stages; candidates should be prepared to supervise and guide students in a structured learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required; eligible for teacher certification or license within the state.
• One or more years’ experience working with population of the facility preferred.
• Knowledge of developmental stages and behaviors for the age group of students.

Responsibilities

• Identify the educational needs of students and develop formal educational plans or programs to meet those needs.
• Create lesson plans to teach a subject and teach students how to study or communicate with others.
• Observe students to evaluate educational abilities, strengths and weaknesses and help them improve.
• Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, or one-on-one.
• Communicate with family members, counselors, administrators and teachers on progress.
• Supervise classroom and maintain a positive environment for learning.
• Adhere to treatment plans and participate in treatment team meetings as requested.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers and prioritize patient safety.

Education
