Responsibilities

  • Promotes and recruits students for Advanced Training Programs with engaging presentations.
  • Drives outcomes related to Advanced Training metrics and collaborations.
  • Advises students on potential downgrades and communicates value of completing programs.
  • Enhances student experience by answering questions and coordinating with campus teams.
  • Interviews students to determine eligibility and schedules interviews.
  • Plans and coordinates Advanced Training Program Expos and other events.
  • Conducts follow-up calls to ensure enrollment and progress.
  • Adapts to changing needs of students or groups; addresses concerns.
  • Owns Program Change and Graduate e-enrolls; maintains logs and follow-ups.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Student Development Advisor performs activities in support of enrolling students in advanced training programs by having a friendly, warm demeanor as well as demonstrating a genuine interest in the needs and concerns of our students. One must be able to conduct engaging presentations and be an effective communicator in both verbal and written formats to be successful in this position. The ideal candidate will have a customer-focused, extroverted style that can enliven, engage and positively impact individuals. In addition, an ideal candidate can quickly adapt to changing situations and utilize persuasive skills to address concerns.

Responsibilities


  • Promotes, markets, and recruits students for Advanced Training Programs by delivering informational, engaging, compliant presentations to all students in both individual and group settings throughout the program, providing guidance and direction regarding career opportunities while sharing the value proposition, and educating short-course students enrolled in core programs.

  • Drives outcomes related to Advanced Training metrics, which includes collaboration with other departments and other campus Student Development Advisors.

  • Advises students regarding potential “downgrades” by addressing concerns, and stressing the value proposition of completing an Advanced Training Program using persuasive skills to illustrate the value proposition.

  • Enhances student experience by answering student questions regarding Advanced Training Programs and working closely with Advanced Training Managers about individual student, specific class and overall program needs.

  • Interviews students to determine eligibility for Advanced Training Programs, begins application process, prepares electronic files and schedule interviews for Advanced Training Managers.

  • Plans and coordinates Advanced Training Program Expos and other promotional events

  • Conducts follow-up calls to ensure enrollment and class start progress and addresses issues or concerns raised by students and/or student influencers regarding cost, finance, curriculum, tutoring, testing procedures or downgrade policy.

  • Adapts to the situational needs of a given student or group to ensure information is conveyed and concerns are addressed regarding Advanced Training.

  • Owns the Program Change and Graduate Re-Enroll process including maintaining tracking logs for Program Changes and Graduate e-enrolls and ensuring timely follow-through by all departments and the student in the process while offering outstanding customer service.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education / Experience


  • High School diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 1-2 years Customer service experience required

  • 1-2 years of Sales experience required

  • Industry knowledge preferred.

  • Strong presentation and sales skills

  • Ability to conduct professional presentations to large audiences

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Multi-tasking and Time Management Skills; can adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment

  • Independent ability to use good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Proficient in computer software applications including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook

  • Strong planning and organizational skills


Abilities


  • Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 25 pounds.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods during events.

  • Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday.

  • Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods throughout the workday.

  • Minimal travel required (>1%) for potential campus presentations.

  • Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn and reason for all of the workday.


Work Environment


  • Work is performed primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment.

  • Work is infrequently performed near or with moving mechanical parts.

  • Short periods of limited exposure to non-hazardous level of fumes or airborne particles.
