Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Content Creator & Video Editor position for the College of Engineering at Oregon State University ( OSU ).

The Marketing and Communications team for the College of Engineering is seeking a creative and enthusiastic student-employee to join our team as a Content Creator & Video Editor. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing the college’s social media presence, engaging with our community, and aligning our social media strategy with the college’s priorities and goals.

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Content Creator & Video Editor.

Position Duties

This position collaborates with the College of Engineering’s marketing team to ideate, create, develop, and execute video content that enhances our brand with prospective students, alumni, donors, industry partners, and the community.

Content planning and development:

  • Curate engaging video content for the college’s official social media channels (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn).
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ideate and execute creative video ideas that align with the college’s brand and goals.
  • Collect video content and engage with students across campus to showcase the lifestyle, resources, and spaces across the College of Engineering.
  • Video production and editing:
  • With the help of the marketing team, produce and edit videos that are a part of the larger marketing strategy.
  • Work with team members to storyboard video ideas and execute videos from start to finish.
What you’ll create:
  • You’ll work with our team and gain hands-on experience producing creative content that will appear on our social media channels.
  • Projects could include:
  • Digital video ads that connect with new audiences
  • Video series highlighting the OSU engineering experience and value of an engineering degree
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services ( USCIS ). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services ( OIS ), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Experience editing video content in native social media apps, or experience with video editing tools like Adobe Premiere, Audition, After Effects, or other comparable software.
  • Ability to ideate and actualize creative ideas.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines set by the marketing and communications teams.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the OSU brand guidelines.
  • A portfolio showing examples of audio, video, and/or design work.

Even though being an engineering student may give you quick insight into the college, it isn’t a requirement to fill the content production needs of the college. We’re looking for someone who gets excited about creating quality video content and the role it plays in building our brand reputation and loyalty. If you have creative ideas for how to make engineering content engaging and exciting and have passion and skills in video editing, let’s talk!

The hours are flexible to accommodate class schedules. Approximately 10 hours/week, max 20 hours/week for full-time students.
