Job summary

Southern Careers Institute in Texas is seeking an Education Finance Specialist / Financial Aid Officer to guide students and families through federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies. You will counsel on eligibility, aid programs, budgeting, and FAFSA processes in a student-centered environment.

Responsibilities include advising on aid eligibility, determining aid amounts, reviewing applications, interviewing students, and maintaining confidentiality under FERPA while delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–2 years related experience or training acceptable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and customer service skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise students about financial aid eligibility, procedures, programs and costs.
• Determine the aid amount considering funds available, demand and student needs.
• Compare data with eligibility requirements for assistance programs.
• Interview students to gather information needed for eligibility.
• Review FAFSA process and maintain tax returns and budget worksheets.
• Ensure 100% student satisfaction and timely service during appointments.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records per FERPA.
