Job summary

Job description

Academic Tutoring at UVU seeks student tutors who will work one-on-one and with groups to help students navigate the challenges of their assigned courses and content material. Academic Tutoring embraces the power of students helping students. It supports all individuals—regardless of identity, culture, point of view, or background—as they navigate the challenges associated with their educational goals. With a focus on major gateway courses, certified peer tutors work alongside each student to foster serious academic exploration and inspire lifelong learning.

• Tutor students (individually and in groups) by appointment and/or drop-in, in assigned courses and content material.
• On top of face-to-face tutoring, tutors may be assigned to the online tutoring lab or in other labs across campus.
• Participate in required tutor training and certification.
• Tutors are also expected to contribute to certain Academic Tutoring initiatives, such as conducting class visits, creating and updating handouts, designing workshops, and contributing to end-of-year events.

• Must be a current UVU student.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Grade B or higher in MGMT 2240.

Preferred Qualifications

• Grade B or higher in MGMT 2340 and MGMT 2400.
• Grade B or higher in upper-division Business Management courses.
• Demonstrates familiarity with other courses offered by the Woodbury School of Business.
• Familiarity with using R for statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with using SQL and Tableau.
