Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be a current UVU student.

• Grade B- or better in CHEM1210 & CHEM1220 and currently/will be enrolled in CHEM2310.
• Grade B- or better in BIOL 1610.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students individually and in groups by appointment and/or drop-in, in assigned courses and content material.
• On top of face-to-face tutoring, tutors may be assigned to the online tutoring lab or in other labs across campus.
• Participate in required tutor training and certification.
• Contribute to Academic Tutoring initiatives like class visits, handouts, workshops, and end of year events.

Job description

Academic Tutoring at UVU is seeking student tutors who will work one-on-one and with groups to help students navigate the challenges of their assigned courses and content material.

Academic Tutoring embraces the power of students helping students and supports all individuals—regardless of identity, culture, point of view, or background—as they navigate the challenges associated with their educational goals. With a focus on gateway major courses, certified peer tutors work alongside each student to foster serious academic exploration and inspire lifelong learning.

• Tutor students (individually and in groups) by appointment and/or drop-in, in assigned courses and content material.
• On top of face-to-face tutoring, tutors may be assigned to the online tutoring lab or in other labs across campus.
• Participate in required tutor training and certification.
• Tutors are also expected to contribute to certain Academic Tutoring initiatives like conducting class visits, creating and updating handouts, designing workshops, and contributing to end of the year events.

• Must be a current UVU student.
• Minimum 3.0GPA.
• Grade B- or better inCHEM1210 &CHEM1220 and currently/will be enrolled inCHEM2310.
• Grade B- or better in BIOL 1610

Preferred Qualifications

• Grade B- or better in CHEM 2310 & 2320.
