Job summary

STA Family of Companies in Coventry, RI seeks a bus monitor to support bus drivers on designated routes and assist with student safety on board. You will help with conduct, seating, and routine checks while maintaining communications with district staff and parents.

The role involves learning routes, assisting with loading/unloading, belt checks, and performing other duties as assigned on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pupils and bus activities to ensure proper conduct at all times.
• Maintain attendance and ridership records and assign seating as needed.
• Learn bus routes to assist substitute drivers with routing.
• Verify route turn sheets and note changes in writing.
• Add directional or landmark notes on route sheets for future drivers.
• Track route timing (total en-route time, loading times, etc.).
• Ensure safe loading and unloading of students on/off the bus.
• Verify belt use and help secure/remove seat belts.
• Assist driver with cleaning the bus interior.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, district staff, students and parents.
• All other duties as assigned.
