Job summary

Richmond County School System is seeking a Student Advocacy Specialist within the Student Services Department to coordinate behavioral and mental health interventions for students. Working under the Coordinator of Support Services, you will identify students at risk and coordinate appropriate interventions and supports.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, MTSS collaboration, and cross-cultural practice with families and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related behavioral health field; GaPSC certification per policy.
• Coursework or experience in data analysis, statistics, or data-driven decision-making.
• GaPSC certification is required for applicants who do not possess a qualifying bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate behavioral and mental health interventions for students.
• Identify students with or at risk for mental health concerns and coordinate interventions.
• Track referrals, monitor follow-ups, and report outcomes to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with counselors, social workers, nurses, psychologists, administrators, and safety personnel.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with community agencies to improve coordination of care.
• Attend trainings related to school safety and student behavioral health.
