Job summary

Gary Community School Corporation seeks a Behavioral Support Coordinator to help minimize instructional disruptions by supervising students assigned to the In-School Suspension program and promoting effective coping and conflict resolution skills.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, staff, and families to foster a disciplined academic environment and improve student outcomes through targeted behavioral interventions and consistent supervision.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of developing behavior intervention plans for students frequently engaging in rule infractions, including attendance issues.
• Knowledge of school and classroom rules, procedures and practices.
• Ability to effectively and creatively use technology when instructing students.
• Ability to be patient and use strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students assigned to the In-School Suspension Program to support instruction and behavior improvement.
• Establish positive rapport with students and parents and review ISS policies with students daily.
• Serve as ISS teacher, advisor, mentor and counselor to students violating codes of conduct.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality; provide encouragement and feedback during reflection periods.
