Job summary

San Diego State University seeks an Assistant Learning Specialist and Tutor Coordinator to support student-athlete academic success through tutoring and individualized study strategies on campus in San Diego. You will coordinate the SASS tutoring program, recruit/train tutors, and collaborate with advisors, faculty, and partners to deliver effective services.

Qualifications

One year of professional Student Services work experience or equivalent graduate-level education.
Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a related field.
Experience coordinating tutoring programs and supporting student-athletes preferred.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the Student‑Athlete Support Services tutor program, including tutor recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, communication, and program support.
Provide individualized academic support to a designated caseload of at‑risk student‑athletes by teaching study strategies, monitoring academic progress, and connecting students with campus resources.
Collaborate with learning specialists, academic advisors, faculty, and campus partners to coordinate tutoring services, academic support, and student success initiatives.
Maintain tutoring schedules, reports, databases, and academic records while monitoring tutoring participation and supporting NCAA academic integrity standards.
Assist with Student‑Athlete Support Services programs and initiatives, including orientation, Summer Bridge, Aztecs Going Pro, academic recognition events, and other student success activities.
