Job summary

The Assistant Learning Specialist and Tutor Coordinator at SDSU supports student‑athletes with academic success through tutoring and individualized coaching. Under the Senior Associate AD, you will run the SASS tutor program, manage caseloads, and collaborate with advisors, learning specialists, faculty, and campus partners to develop study strategies and resources.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of NCAA, conference, and SDSU rules and policies.
• Experience providing academic support services including tutoring and program development.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and project coordination skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience supporting diverse student populations, including at-risk students or student-athletes.
• Experience coordinating tutoring programs; Division I athlete experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the SDSU SASS tutoring program: recruit, hire, train, schedule, and support tutors.
• Provide one-on-one academic support to a caseload of at-risk student-athletes; teach study strategies and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with learning specialists, advisors, faculty, and campus partners to coordinate tutoring and student success initiatives.
• Maintain tutoring schedules, reports, and academic records; monitor participation and ensure integrity standards.
• Assist with SASS programs and initiatives including orientation, Summer Bridge, and recognition events.
