Job summary

Penn State University’s Morgan Academic Center seeks a Learning Services Assistant to support student-athletes through individualized academic coaching and tutoring. This role emphasizes delivering personalized support plans, goal setting, and study strategies within a fast-paced, student-centered environment.

The position is part-time for the 2026-27 academic year, with up to 25 hours per week, including evenings and Sundays, at a pay of $23 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, or mentor others effectively.
• Strong time management and organizational competencies.
• Experience working successfully with diverse populations.
• Comfortable with digital platforms and academic management systems.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with an assigned caseload of student-athletes by assessing academic needs and creating tailored academic support plans.
• Enhance learning in goal setting, time management, organization, note-taking, and study strategies.
• Monitor progress through weekly appointments and provide session reports.
• Attend ongoing professional development trainings and uphold MAC policies and procedures.
• Assist learning services staff with tutoring, mentoring, and educational sessions as needed.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor, MAC colleagues, students, and academic support partners.
