Job summary

Roseville Community Schools in Roseville, MI is seeking a part-time counselor/social worker to support at-risk students under a 182-day school-year calendar. Work hours include 6.25 hours per day with a half-hour unpaid lunch; duties include intervention planning, family meetings, and community partnership development.

Requires a BA/BS in Social Work or related field and licensure as a counselor or social worker; experience with school-aged youth and advocacy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify at-risk students.
• Develop individual and small group sessions for academic intervention and discipline prevention.
• Develop and monitor behavior/success plans.
• Monitor student attendance, discipline, and academic progress.
• Meet with parents and staff regarding intervention plans and progress.
• Develop school/community partnerships to support at-risk youth.
• Enhance mentoring programs for at-risk youth at school.
• Refer to district personnel or outside agencies as necessary.
• Other duties may be assigned by the building principal.

Salary $42,800

Qualifications:

• BA/BS Degree in Social Work or Human Services related field (required).
• Certified or licensed as a counselor or social worker (preferred).
• Experience with school-aged youth.
• Background/experience in Advocacy and Student Support (preferred).
• Such other qualifications as may be identified.

Sample Duties:

• Identify at-risk students.
• Develop individual and small group sessions for academic intervention and discipline prevention.
• Develop and monitor behavior/success plans.
• Monitor student attendance, discipline, and academic progress.
• Meet with parents and staff regarding intervention plans and progress.
• Work to develop school/community partnerships with outside organizations that support at-risk youth.
• Work with and enhance existing mentoring program for at-risk youth at school.
• Referrals to appropriate district personnel or outside agency, as necessary.
• Other duties may be assigned by the building principal.

This assignment will be filled for the 2026/2027 school year. Continuation of the position will be contingent on the availability of future grant funding. The posting will remain open until filled.
