UPPER ARLINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT
Position: School-Age Child Care Student Assistant
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Employment Status: Regular/Part-time
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Rate of Pay: $14.75
Description: Responsible for assisting the supervisor and program aides in the care and nurturing of children in a safe and welcoming environment, implements activities and helps in carrying out the daily routine of the program.
Hours: 2:30–5:30 PM school days

Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age and eligible to obtain a work permit
- Must be enrolled in the Upper Arlington City School District
- Must be a junior or senior with an appropriate school record
- Must provide a signed medical statement and fingerprints for a criminal records check
- Experience working with children preferred but not required
- Completion of SACC orientation and training
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work effectively and positively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Effective active listening skills
- Ability to manage children in small & large groups
- Can understand and identify the individual needs of children in the program and adapt expectations and practices accordingly
- Other alternatives as appropriate from Supervisor/Board of Education
Essential Functions
- Assists in conducting activities and special events
- Communicates with other SACC members
- Assists in snack preparation and serving
- Assists in keeping supplies and equipment in order
- Daily set-up/clean-up of program
- Interacts positively, using constructive guidance in appropriate social interactions and expected standards of behavior
- Enforces SACC policy
- Serves as a positive role model for children
- Encourages children's participation in multiple program activities
- Greets and interacts with parents daily, sharing positive information about a child whenever possible
- Regards parents, children, school personnel, and SACC staff in a positive, professional, and cooperative manner; refers appropriate questions to Site Supervisor
