The District Registrar serves as a vital point of contact for current and prospective Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) families by delivering exceptional customer service in person, via phone, and through email. This position facilitates the student registration process, particularly assisting families who are unable to complete online applications. This role requires frequent interaction with students and families, many of whom may be Spanish-speaking. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred to support communication, provide translations of school documents, and facilitate interpretation during parent meetings.
The District Registrar reviews and processes registration and enrollment documentation to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local policies and laws. A key function is to verify student residency using the district’s assignment map and to ensure proper school placement. The position requires close collaboration with various departments including exceptional children, transportation, and school-based staff to support a smooth school transition for newly enrolled students. Additional responsibilities may include managing student transfers, address changes, and domicile investigations, as well as performing other duties related to enrollment and student assignment. Maintaining strict confidentiality and exercising professionalism and efficiency are essential to success. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and committed to upholding CHCCS values and goals in all interactions and processes.
