Job summary

Located on the campus of the University of Denver, the Sturm College of Law seeks a welcoming and organized Office Assistant to support the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions. The role focuses on front desk duties, general inquiries, and coordinating programs and events.

You will manage communications, newsletters, event postings, and accommodations coordination, with hybrid work option and weekday schedule.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in a customer service position.
  • Experience working with Windows and Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front desk support for the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions, greet visitors and answer inquiries.
  • Collaborate on planning, advertising, and delivering programs sponsored by Student Affairs.
  • Organize events such as Orientation, Awards Ceremony, and Graduation.
  • Manage the Events & Announcements System and related policies, including social media postings.
  • Design and manage weekly events emails and the Student Affairs Newsletter.
  • Assist with accommodation tracking and exam scheduling coordination.
  • Maintain office supplies and budgeting; hire and manage student employees.
  • Oversee use of student lockers, Reflection Room, and Lactation Room; schedule meetings as needed.

Position Summary

Located on the campus of the University of Denver, the Sturm College of Law features an outstanding and diverse student body, a distinguished and internationally recognized faculty, a dedicated and highly professional staff, and an alumni base that has achieved distinction in law, business, government, public interest, and other professional domains.

Essential Functions
  • Provide front desk support for the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Admissions and Student Financial Management, including: greeting visitors; answering phone calls and e-mail; responding to inquiries from applicants and students; assisting students with general academic matters; and providing general administrative support.
  • Collaborate on the planning, advertising, and delivery of various programs sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, including its Third Thursday and Wellness Programs.
  • Contribute to the organization and execution of various events sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, including Orientation, the Student Awards Ceremony, and Graduation.
  • Manage the law schools Events & Announcements System and its associated Posting & Advertising Policy, including postings in the law building and on social media.
  • Design and manage weekly Events emails and the Student Affairs Newsletter.
  • Manage accommodation tracking; assist with accommodated exam scheduling, communication, and proctoring. (Note: This task may require working later than normal business hours 5-10 days per year.)
  • Maintain office supplies and manage supply-related budgeting.
  • Hire and manage student employees.
  • Manage and facilitate usage by members of the community of the law's student lockers, Reflection Room, and Lactation Room.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings between students and the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent judgment, integrity, dependability, and adaptability.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of administrative experience in a reception and/or customer-facing position.

Work Environment

Standard office environment.
Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In accordance with the University's flexible work policy, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with the opportunity to work remotely one day per week. The specific remote workday will be determined in coordination with the hiring manager based on division and team needs.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for the position is $23.00-$26.00.
