Job summary

Regional Office of Education #21 is seeking a Student Advocate (ALOP) to mentor, support, and empower at‑risk students through the Alternative Learning Opportunities Program. You will build relationships, provide academic and social‑emotional support, and collaborate with educators and families to create lasting change.

The role emphasizes advocating for students, managing a caseload, and working with partner school districts to improve participation and success in academics and life skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
  • Experience with at‑risk youth preferred.
  • Strong advocacy and case management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with families, schools and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Case load of approximately 32 students.
  • Ensure ALOP procedures are followed with fidelity.
  • Conduct frequent in‑person check‑ins with students.
  • Serve as liaison between family and school to support student success.
  • Provide academic and social‑emotional support and resources.
  • Collaborate with schools to define roles and improve student participation.
