Job summary

UW-Superior is seeking a Sup II - Superior Adventures Lead, a student hourly role to hire, train, and direct staff across outdoor programs and climbing activities. You will oversee programming like gear rentals, skill clinics, and wilderness trips while promoting engagement with students and the campus community.

The position requires current enrollment, strong leadership, and the ability to teach and evaluate outdoor skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled UW-Superior student in good academic standing.
• Experience planning, leading, and evaluating wilderness trips (day and multiday).
• Excellent people, communication, customer service, and organization skills.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to lead meetings and trainings.
• Ability to work with diverse ages in various group sizes.
• Preferred: CPR/WFR/WFA/AMGA/PCIA/LNT/ACA certifications; experience with Fusion software and Canva.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train and develop, supervise, schedule, and evaluate Superior Adventures and Climbing Wall staff.
• Assist in daily operations, design, implementation, and evaluation of programming areas (gear rentals, clinics, trips).
• Assist with promoting wilderness trips, rentals, clinics, and climbing wall.
• Coordinate communication for students, staff, facilities, participants, and external users about programs.
• Assist in disciplinary decisions and in developing and enforcing program policies.
• Oversee equipment inventory and maintenance, gear retirement and replacement.
• Be an active member of the Campus Recreation Leadership Team.
• Participate in staff development activities sponsored by UW-Superior.
