Job summary

Flatiron Construction Corp. is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead heavy civil construction projects in Los Angeles.

You will plan work methods, coordinate with crews, and manage equipment and subcontractors to meet budget and schedule while ensuring safety and quality. The role requires 5+ years in heavy civil construction and 3+ years in construction management, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred and STS certification optional.

Qualifications

• 5+ years heavy civil construction experience required.
• 3+ years construction management experience required.
• Bachelor's degree a plus.
• Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
• Valid Driver's License and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule.
• Review specs and coordinate with crews, engineers and utilities.
• Coordinate with equipment teams and vendors to meet budget and schedule.
• Provide input to identify risks and resolve issues.
• Promote safety and process controls on site; identify training needs.
• Supervise subcontractor production and adjust schedules as needed.

Overview

Are you an experienced leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality results. As a Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our construction projects. Your expertise in scheduling, coordinating, and supervising production and workforce will ensure that every task is executed seamlessly and efficiently. Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.

What you will be doing

• Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work. Reviews daily work schedule with direct reports and updates weekly schedule from project feedback.
• Review and understands the project specifications to support job set up activities. Works with work crews, field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on job site.
• Coordinate with internal equipment team and external vendors to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
• Provide technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety and schedule activities.
• Support and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements. Responsibility includes recommending training needs identified on jobsite.
• Supervise sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities, as needed.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience required.
• 3+ years construction management experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree a plus.
• Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
• Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules, if applicable.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Salary Min USD $140,000.00/Yr.
