Job summary

HNTB's Lake Mary office is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for the structures group to work on infrastructure projects in Central and East Florida. You will lead discipline planning, manage scope, and mentor team members on complex projects across bridges, walls, and other structures.

The role requires a PE license or advanced degree with significant relevant experience; you will collaborate with clients and partners on multi-disciplinary efforts and contribute to marketing through proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or
• Master's degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level technical expertise for a broad range of solutions.
• Lead discipline planning, work distribution, and schedule/budget adherence on complex projects.
• Assist in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
• Develop scope of work and oversee budgets within the discipline.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of the project team's technical deliverables.
• Offer technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
• Coordinate with client counterparts and teaming partners at staff level.
• Lead discipline delivery on larger multi-disciplinary projects.

Structure types include concrete bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, overhead sign structures, noise barriers, and specialty structures.

What You'll Do:

• Uses senior-level technical expertise to consider broad range of engineering solutions.
• Responsible for the discipline-specific planning, work distribution, and leadership and adherence to the schedule, and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects.
• Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
• Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
• Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.
• Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.
• Leads discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work for other disciplines on multi-discipline projects on complex or unusual engineering projects
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or
• Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

• Understands the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.
• Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines.
• Prepares high-quality deliverables that are on time, and within budget and scope.
• Exhibiting experience with structural analysis and design software.
• Exhibiting experience Bentley's MicroStation and/or AutoCad Civil 3D.

What We Prefer:

• Experienced in the design of bridges and other transportation structures for DOT clients.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Project experience with OpenBridge Modeler.
