Job summary

Dewberry seeks a Structures Engineer (Bridge) in Rancho Cordova, CA to design concrete and steel bridges and related transportation structures. You’ll develop PS&E packages, perform field inspections, and provide construction support, with opportunities for growth in a collaborative, client-focused team.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in bridge projects, a Civil Engineering degree, and familiarity with Caltrans/AASHTO standards; a CA PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited 4-year college.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• California Professional Engineer license preferred.
• 5+ years of bridge and retaining wall project experience.
• Experience designing transportation structures to Caltrans/local standards.
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications with Caltrans Amendments.
• Knowledge of CTBridge, CSiBridge, VBent, CTAbut, LPile or similar analysis programs.
• Proficiency using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepares project plan and estimate packages including quantities, calculations, reports, and exhibits on small to mid level projects.
• Works as part of a team preparing project plan and estimate packages on large projects.
• Prepares notes for specification writers and coordinates with CAD drafters.
• Leads utility, permitting, and subconsultant coordination.
• Prepares QA/QC checklist packages per internal standards.
• Mentors junior staff and assists in proposal write-ups and exhibits.
• Participates in internal technical trainings and field inspections.
• Attends site visits and structures observations as needed.

Dewberry is seeking a responsible, highly motivated, and detail oriented individual to join our structures department in Rancho Cordova, CA as a Structures Engineer (Bridge). The successful candidate will be part of a team designing simple and complex bridges (primarily of concrete and steel construction) and a variety of transportation related structures (retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and other miscellaneous structures). The candidate will be involved in the development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages, field inspections, and performing construction design support services. Responsibilities

• Independently prepares project plan and estimate (P&E) packages including quantities, calculations, reports, and exhibits on small to mid level projects
• Works as part of a team preparing project plan and estimate (P&E) packages including quantities, calculations, reports, and exhibits on large level projects
• Prepares notes for specification writers
• Works closely and coordinates with other disciplines including CAD drafters
• Participates and leads efforts in utility, permitting, and subconsultant coordination on projects
• Prepares QA/QC checklist packages per internal standards
• Mentors younger staff
• Assists in preparing proposal write-ups and exhibits
• Participates and leads efforts in internal technical trainings
• Prepares RE Pending Files and is involved with bidding and construction support services
• Attends periodic site visits, structures observations, and other field meetings

Required Skills & Required Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited 4-year engineering college
• Master’s degree is preferred
• California Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred
• 5+ years of experience in bridge and retaining wall projects
• Experience designing transportation related structures projects to Caltrans and local agency standards
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications with Caltrans Amendments
• Preference for knowledge of CTBridge, CSiBridge, VBent, CTAbut, LPile, and/or similar analysis programs
• Proficiency using CADD (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
• Strong leadership skills and desire to deliver the highest quality projects to our clients
• Proficient in MS Office (WORD and EXCEL)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong desire to grow technical and project management skills

Salary Range
The projected range for this position is $115,000 - $150,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
