Job summary

Cirrus in Minnesota seeks an Structures, Airframe Engineer 2 to design and certify aircraft structures across Cirrus models. You will work with cross-functional teams, apply GD&T, and develop certification documentation for production release.

The role requires a 4-year degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering and 3+ years of progressive experience, with knowledge of CAD/PLM tools and FAA certification practices. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
  • 3+ years progressive engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with mechanical structures and composites (preferred).
  • CAD/PDM/PLM tools including Creo, Windchill and JIRA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise to design, test and certify aircraft structures across Cirrus models.
  • Acquire and apply Cirrus and industry design practices for manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot issues and implement design changes and corrective actions.
  • Develop MOC under FAR Part 23 for certification; FAA experience desired.
  • Read and check prototypes and production drawings; apply GD&T and assess tolerances.
  • Identify and coordinate with suppliers; work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Job description

Overview

Structures, Airframe Engineer 2 provide designs for structural components and assemblies. Engineer is responsible for preliminary design concepts, research and investigation, models, drawings and certification documentation to support new product to production release projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering technical expertise and support integrated teams to design, test and certify aircraft across all Cirrus models.
  • Acquire cirrus and industry standard practices in design of aircraft and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot installation and quality issues, and disposition corrective actions and design changes.
  • Use Federal Aviation Regulations Part 23 to develop MOC as needed to streamline certification. Familiarity with FAA certification experience desired.
  • Read and check prototype & production part, assembly, and installation models and drawings. Apply reduced dimensions and GD&T to drawings as appropriate, and assess / improve upon tolerance stack-up
  • Identify, select, and coordinate with suppliers.
  • Work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
  • 4-year degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • 3 or more years progressive engineering experience required.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with mechanical structures and composite (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of CAD, PDM/PLM, and collaboration tools. Familiarity with PTC Creo, PTC Windchill PDM, and Atlassian JIRA tools preferred.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear, understandable, and audience appropriate manner. Must have the ability to read, write and speak the English language.

Pay Range

Salary Range: USD $80,048.66/Yr. - USD $120,072.99/Yr.
