Job summary

Cirrus is looking for a Structures, Airframe Engineer 2 based in Duluth, Minnesota. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering design of structural components and assemblies while supporting certification of various aircraft models.

Applicants should have at least a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and three years of engineering experience. Strong CAD knowledge and the ability to work in cross-functional teams are essential. A comprehensive benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Job description

Job Summary

The Structures, Airframe Engineer 2 provides designs for structural components and assemblies. The engineer is responsible for preliminary design concepts, research, investigation, modeling, drawings, and certification documentation to support new products through production release projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering technical expertise and support integrated teams to design, test and certify aircraft across all Cirrus models.
  • Acquire Cirrus and industry standard practices in the design of aircraft and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot installation and quality issues, and disposition corrective actions and design changes.
  • Use Federal Aviation Regulations Part 23 to develop MOCs as needed to streamline certification. Familiarity with FAA certification experience is desired.
  • Read and check prototype and production parts, assemblies, and installation models and drawings. Apply reduced dimensions and GD&T to drawings as appropriate, and assess or improve tolerance stack-ups.
  • Identify, select, and coordinate with suppliers.
  • Work both independently and within cross‑functional teams.

  • Working knowledge of CAD, PDM/PLM, and collaboration tools. Familiarity with PTC Creo, PTC Windchill PDM, and Atlassian JIRA tools is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear, understandable, and audience‑appropriate manner. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
