Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Structures Engineer to join our progressive, employee-focused regional multidisciplinary engineering firm in Phoenix, AZ. You will design and analyze vertical structures, prepare analyses and specs, and lead structural efforts on diverse projects for local agencies and DOTs.

The role requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering, 7–10 years of design experience, and PE licensure or ability to obtain within one year.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering required.
  • 7–10 years of design experience.
  • PE licensure or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Willingness to travel locally and to work in multiple offices.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams a plus.
  • Design-Build and Alternative Delivery experience a plus.
  • Established relationships with local clients (DOT) a plus.
  • Solid understanding of vertical structure projects and multiple construction types.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze vertical structures for site/civil projects.
  • Prepare designs, structural calculations, cost estimates, and specifications.
  • Deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within the project budget for local agencies, federal agencies, state DOTs, and developers.
  • Perform structural analysis using Enercalc, L-Pile, STAAD and other Bentley Engineering software.
  • Design and analyze concrete vaults, culverts, storage tanks, and booster station structures for municipal projects.
  • Design and analyze foundations, abutments, and various components for federal projects.
  • Design retaining walls and other structural components for roadway or site civil projects.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met.
  • Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation and structural engineering.
  • Structures lead for smaller projects, coordinating staff and design efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze vertical structures for site/civil projects

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
  • 7 to 10 years of design experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE within one year
  • Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices, some travel required
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams a plus
  • Design Build and Alternative Delivery experience a plus
  • Established relationships with local clients (Department of Transportation) a plus
  • Solid understanding of vertical structure projects and multiple types of construction
