Job summary

HM Staffing Solutions is seeking Cabling Technicians to install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. You will work with copper and fiber cables for data, voice, and video communications.

Responsibilities include installing and terminating cables, configuring patch panels and racks, reading blueprints, performing tests with Fluke and OTDR tools, and documenting layouts. Travel and field teamwork are common in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in cabling or low-voltage installations.
• Familiarity with copper and fiber cabling standards.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Install and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables
• Mount and configure patch panels, racks, and network hardware
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical diagrams
• Perform cable testing using Fluke testers, OTDRs, and other diagnostic tools
• Label and document cable runs and network layouts
• Ensure compliance with safety codes and industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC)
• Collaborate with IT teams, contractors, and project managers
• Maintain tools, inventory, and job site cleanliness
