Job summary

TradeSTAR, Inc. in Texas is seeking an entry-level Telecommunications Cabling Technician to support commercial facilities with structured cabling installations.

You will pull, route, and secure CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling, and assist with installation of racks and equipment. You will read floor plans, follow installation instructions, and work with senior technicians to troubleshoot issues while maintaining clean, secure telecommunications rooms and practicing rigorous safety procedures

Qualifications

• Approximately 6 months to 2 years or higher of experience installing commercial voice and data cabling.
• Basic understanding of structured cabling systems and low-voltage installation practices.
• Familiarity with CAT 6, CAT 6A, and fiber optic cabling.
• Experience pulling, routing, dressing, and securing telecommunications cable.
• Basic knowledge of RJ45 connectors, keystone jacks, patch panels, and cable termination methods.
• Ability to use common hand tools, drills, punch-down tools, and cable testers.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, and secure CAT 6, CAT 6A, and other approved telecommunications cabling throughout commercial buildings.
• Assist with the installation of fiber optic cabling and associated communication infrastructure.
• Install cable supports, J-hooks, cable trays, sleeves, and other low-voltage pathway systems.
• Terminate copper data cables onto keystone jacks, patch panels, and communication outlets under supervision.
• Assist with the installation of telecommunications racks, cabinets, patch panels, and equipment mounting hardware.
• Perform basic cable testing and help identify wiring faults, damaged cables, and termination issues.
• Label and organize cabling according to project specifications and established installation standards.
• Read and follow basic floor plans, cable schedules, and installation instructions.
• Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and correcting installation deficiencies.
• Maintain clean, organized telecommunications rooms and work areas.
• Work from ladders and lifts while following established jobsite safety procedures.
