Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of structured cabling installation experience.
  • Demonstrated backbone cable pulling experience (REQUIRED).
  • Experience pulling large-count copper and fiber backbone cables.
  • Experience working in commercial construction environments.
  • Ability to read blueprints and cable layouts.
  • Knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI installation standards.
  • Experience installing cable support systems.
  • Ability to terminate and test copper cabling.
  • Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including drug testing and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Install, route, and secure structured cabling systems.
  • Pull backbone copper and fiber optic cables between telecommunications rooms, IDFs, MDFs, and equipment rooms.
  • Install horizontal station cabling for voice, data, and wireless systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and cable schedules.
  • Install cable pathways including: J-hooks, Cable tray, Conduit, Raceway systems.
  • Terminate Category 5e, Category 6, Category 6A, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Label, dress, and organize cables according to project specifications.
  • Assist with rack and cabinet installation.
  • Install patch panels, faceplates, outlets, and cable management systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot cabling issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow OSHA safety requirements and all company safety policies.
  • Accurately complete daily work reports and documentation.
  • Work effectively with project managers, foremen, and other technicians.

NCS is seeking an experienced Cable Installer Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, routing, pulling, dressing, and terminating structured cabling systems in commercial and industrial environments.

Backbone cable pulling experience is required for this position. Candidates without demonstrated backbone cable installation experience will not be considered.

The Cable Installer Technician will be responsible for installing copper and fiber optic cabling while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to industry standards.

  • Install, route, and secure structured cabling systems.

  • Experience working in healthcare, education, airport, or mission-critical facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Stand, kneel, crouch, and bend for extended periods.
  • Work on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
  • Pull heavy backbone cabling over long distances.
  • Work above ceilings and in confined spaces.
