Job summary

TradeSTAR, Inc. in Dallas, TX is seeking a Voice & Data Lead Technician to guide commercial structured cabling projects. You will lead crews, install Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber, read blueprints, and ensure safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on experience and at least 1 year of leadership experience, with a focus on delivering projects on schedule and mentoring junior technicians.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on commercial voice and data structured cabling experience.
• 1+ year of experience leading technicians or coordinating installation crews preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber-optic installation practices.
• Advanced experience with copper terminations, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Experience installing and organizing MDF/IDF rooms, network racks, and patch panels.
• Ability to read and interpret commercial construction drawings and low-voltage plans.
• Familiarity with cable certification equipment and testing procedures.
• Experience coordinating daily work assignments and installation priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, supervisors, and project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily activities for commercial voice and data installation crews.
• Install, route, dress, and terminate Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber-optic cabling.
• Oversee installation of network racks, cabinets, patch panels, and MDF/IDF infrastructure.
• Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, cable schedules, and project specs.
• Assign daily tasks and help technicians understand installation requirements.
• Perform advanced copper terminations and assist with fiber-optic installations.
• Oversee cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting.
• Identify installation challenges and help crew resolve issues efficiently.
• Maintain proper cable management, labeling, and documentation standards.
• Coordinate with foremen and project leadership to meet schedules.
• Mentor Level I–III Technicians and promote safe workmanship.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Voice & Data Lead Technician, you’ll combine advanced technical skills with hands‑on leadership to help commercial structured cabling projects run efficiently.

• Leading and coordinating daily activities for commercial voice and data installation crews
• Installing, routing, dressing, and terminating Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber-optic cabling
• Overseeing the installation of network racks, cabinets, patch panels, and MDF/IDF infrastructure
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, riser diagrams, cable schedules, and project specifications
• Assigning daily tasks and helping technicians understand installation requirements
• Performing advanced copper terminations and assisting with fiber-optic installations
• Overseeing cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting
• Identifying installation challenges and helping the crew resolve issues efficiently
• Maintaining proper cable management, labeling, and documentation standards
• Coordinating with Foremen, Superintendents, and project leadership to meet installation schedules
• Mentoring Level I, Level II, and Level III Technicians
