Job summary

LINX is seeking a Structured Cabling/Low Voltage Lead Technician in Columbus, OH to coordinate onsite projects within commercial construction. You will report to the Project Foreman and Project Manager, supervising crews, planning manpower, ensuring safety and policy compliance, and driving project goals to completion.

The role requires strong cabling skills, blueprint literacy, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in cabling standards and ability to lead projects with 5+ technicians.
  • Read blueprints and manage all aspects of project planning.
  • Strong communication and timesheet management skills.
  • Proficient with category cable, COAX, fiber and network hardware.
  • Must pass background check, drug screen, and physical.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise projects, directing the work of 5+ technicians and meeting daily goals.
  • Plan site manpower needs and manage materials through completion.
  • Set crew objectives, track progress, and report to management.
  • Ensure HR, safety, and policy compliance while meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain technical, quality, and profitability standards; ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee account coordination and direct customer interaction.
  • Prepare status reports and keep customers and Project Managers informed.

Job Summary:

The Structured Cabling/Low Voltage Lead Technician plays a key role in onsite project coordination within commercial construction environments.

Reporting to the Project Foreman and Project Manager, this role ensures structured cabling projects stay on track by managing daily tasks, supervising crews, and meeting project goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned projects, directing the work of 5+ technicians and ensuring daily goals are met.
  • Plan site manpower needs and manage material and labor through job completion.
  • Set crew objectives, track progress, and report updates to management.
  • Ensure compliance with HR, safety, and company policies while meeting project deadlines.
  • Maintain technical, quality, and profitability standards, ensuring top-level customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee account coordination, including direct customer interaction and issue resolution.
  • Prepare and communicate status reports, keeping customers and Project Managers informed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Expertise in cabling standards with the ability to lead projects, delegate tasks, and supervise teams of 5+ technicians.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and managing all aspects of project planning.
  • Strong communication skills (& verbal) with a focus on accurate timesheet management and efficiency.
  • Terminate jacks, patch panels, 66/110 blocks, and follow 568A/B color codes.
  • Use Fluke testers to verify connections and troubleshoot voice/data issues.
  • Install and configure switches, routers, modems, and wireless access points.
  • Work with category cable, COAX, fiber (RG6, RG11, RG59), build out closets, and operate Hilti guns, hammer drills, band saws, and power tools.
  • Ability to lift/carry/setup a 50 pound box or ladder.
  • Must own low voltage tools (strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches)
  • Able to work 2nd/3rd shift, overtime, and under pressure.
  • Must pass a 7-year background check, drug screen, and physical.
  • Requires valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance
  • Professional working proficiency in English

Preferred Certifications (not required)

  • BICSI Technician or Installation Certification
  • OSHA 10
  • Powder Actuated Tools Certification
  • Confined Space Certification
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Manufacturers certifications for Installation and Maintenance
  • Lift Certified
  • High School diploma, Associate's degree or technical degree a plus

Pay Rate:

$24.00 - $35.00/hr
